is optional
feeling nearly
forgotten
like clocks
having lost
their "tick-tocks"
hands rotating
across worn faces
as numerals fade
miscalculated
as, "maybe someday"
being suspended
by gold chains
links soddered into place
elegantly engraved,
" Seize the Day"
wound each and everyday
polished pocket watches
displayed in corner pawn shops
unsentimentally guarded
pennies on the dollar
for fobs of stolid forefathers...
